Remember Me is the latest game?announced?by Capcom, and upon it?s initial trailer, it seemed interesting to me. The girl reminds me of the chick from Mirror?s Edge, with platforming similar to Uncharted, and combat similar to Arkham Asylum. Nothing new to see here. It sucks, because it?s not original. Yeah?you?re gonna see lots of that naturally. Now if we can get away from silly YouTube comments, I?ll get more into this, because that?s what you?re here for right?
This game is all future-like and has a sexy chick character with an accent. Sexy in the sense that well?she has an accent and kicks butt. Not because she?s looks like a sex object (here?s looking at you, Ivy). Her name is Nilin and she is a ?memory hunter?. This is one of those attempts to look into the future and well, it?s not a bright one. Right off the bat, you?re thrown in prison and you have had you memory wiped by someone named ?Memoreyes? (real clever) who previously had Nilin work for him. He has to be like the worst employer ever to wipe your memory clean.
The trailer wastes no time getting into the action. Nilin has connections and can be heard keeping in communication with someone on the inside, and is obviously on your side. Not too long after, she?s being gunned down and trying to?escape?to save her dear life, with a over the top finish to get out of what I assume will be one of many situations you will have to face throughout the game. The idea is to figure things out. In a sense, you?re a nobody. You need to find out why your memory was wiped in the first place. It?s safe to assume there will be some crazy platforming involved, but unlike Mirror?s Edge, this is from a third party perspective.
There is actual combat shown in between as well, and the way she gravitates towards enemies to attack kind of reminds me of Batman: Arkham Asylum/City. Interesting how I keep making the?comparisons?to other games, but haven?t dismissed it yet. I?m not quite sure if you can collect memories from each character in the game or if you just?acquire?the important ones as you progress in the story. Maybe both. The game was only recently?announced, so much is up for speculation.
For me, it?s something I?ll keep an eye on. Nothing really groundbreaking or original here, but what really is in today?s age of gaming? Everyone copies someone or something, until a new IP comes around that changes everything. This game won?t be doing that, but it?s worth your attention nonetheless. Capcom hopes to establish a good relationship with the Dontnod Entertainment development team to turn this into a major franchise. You can expect to see ?Ms. I have no idea who I am? in action May 2013 on the 360, PS3 and PC.
